Adult & Youth Bible Studies

As older children and youth transition from childhood to adulthood, we want to help them make that transition by incorporating them into our adult Bible study classes and corporate worship gatherings. Please note: children are also welcome to attend Adult Bible Studies with their parents or guardians.

Sunday Bible Study (9:45 am – 10:30 am)

James: The Proverbs of the New Testament

Eusebius records that Clement of Alexandria related to him, “This James, whom the people of old called the Just because of his outstanding virtue, was the first, as the record tells us, to be elected to the episcopal throne of the Jerusalem church.” He is also called “James the brother of the Lord, surnamed the Just,” and “James the Righteous.” He is sometimes referred to in Eastern Christianity as “James Adelphotheos” (Ancient Greek) meaning “James the Brother of God.” The oldest surviving liturgy, the Liturgy of St. James, uses this name.

In this 9-week study, we will work through his letter, which is sometimes called “the Proverbs of the New Testament.” In it, James practically and faithfully reminds Christians how to live: from perseverance to true faith to controlling one’s tongue, submitting to God’s will, and having patience, this book aids readers in living authentically and wisely for Christ.

Communion with God

How can we have and enjoy having fellowship with God? Many Christians yearn for that and yet never really experience it because their view of God and their understanding of fellowship with him are misinformed. Puritan theologian and pastor John Owen has been a guide to generations of believers with his book Communion with God, and he will serve as our guide as we seek to understand God more fully and seek him more earnestly. It has been written that “nothing is more vital to spiritual well-being than a practical knowledge of what this doctrine means.”
